Our receptionists, secretaries and administration staff are here to help you.  They will often need to ask you further details when you telephone.  This is to ensure that we assist you as effectively as possible.  They are all bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the doctors and nurses.

Practice Medicine Manager

To give a quality prescribing service, are you aware you can order on-line or order and arrange pick up via your local selected chemist.

• To reduce waste (an average waste equating to 2 million poinds of out of date prescribed drugs is wasted each year in Cumbira alond), we ask you do not stock pile, that you only order if you need the medication and you inform the doctor if you no longer use a particular item.
• To ensure safety at all times; if you have any out of date medicines/tablets/dressings that you no longer use then please return them to a pharmacy.
• To increase patient satisfaction; if you need your medications bringing in line so you only have to order once a month, contact the surgery and ask to a PMM.

District/Community Nurses are based at the surgery. Messages for them can be left at reception or by telephoning 01539 721327.

All District/Community Nurses are identifiable by name and photograph on a Cumbria Primary Care Trust Identity Card. The service is available 24 hours a day; an evening an dnight team provides the service from 18:30 to 08:00. The District Nursing Team is not an emergency service. If you need urgent medical attention please contact your GP or the Accident and Emergency Department.

The District Nursing Team specialise in providing individualised nursing care and support for housebound patients in their own home. Their role includes:

• Expertise in wound care
• Enabling early discharge from hospital
• Nursing care following hospital discharge
• Assessing the loan of hospital equipment
• Co-ordinating the care and support of people who are dying, and their families
• Supporting rehabilitation
• Advice on health topics
