Counselling

A Counselling service is provided within the surgery to help patients cope with a variety of life problems.

Family planning

All methods of family planning are available at the Surgery, including pills, IUDs (Intra-Uterine contraceptive Device), injections and implants.

You can choose to see any of the doctors about contraceptive advice or attend our family planning clinic.

Contraceptive Clinics are available elsewhere and offer the following:

Free contraceptives, condoms, pregnancy testing, smears, emergency contraception and general sexual advice - please call 0800 521613 for clinics in the Kendal and Barrow areas.

Emergency contraception is if you have unprotected sex, it involves two special doses of pills taken within 72 hours.

Specimen & Test Results

You can collect containers for urine samples etc. from the reception desk. Specimen bottles should be properly labelled before you hand them in. Please contact (01539) 720241, between 1:00pm and 5:00pm, unless you have been told to call earlier by your doctor, to find out the results of any tests you have had. It is the patient’s responsibility to ensure they get the results for ALL tests taken.

Private Medical Examinations

We can carry out various private medical examinations, eg: HGV, PSV, elderly drivers, employment, insurance and sports medicals. These are not covered by the NHS and a fee will be payable. Please ask the receptionist for current charges and to make an appointment.
